Mark has been Senior Partner and Managing Director at Booth King since 2006.

Prior to his role at Booth King Mark was an associate with international consultancy Arup based in London, Hong Kong and latterly Manchester delivering projects both nationally and internationally.

In addition to his role as Managing Director, Mark is committed to the training and development of young engineers. He runs work placement schemes at Booth King in addition to lecturing structural engineering students at local universities.

Key Projects

Barry joined Booth King in 2004 and has been a Director since 2006. Prior to his role here he spent nine years with Arup and Buro Happold in London and Manchester.

Barry is a key project lead for Whitbread plc jobs and manages the Booth King practice teams for Whitbread’s group of hotels restaurants and public houses (including Premier Inn and Costa Coffee) across the UK.

Barry has a keen interest in architectural design and structural artworks and has developed this at Booth King with projects such as the refurbishment of Stubbs Mill in Manchester and the Panopticon Halo in Lancashire.

Ian heads up the civil engineering infrastructure team at Booth King with a keen interest in sustainable urban drainage.

Ian started his career in the Merchant Navy travelling the world, before settling down to his first degree in Engineering at Manchester University.

From here he became a Graduate Engineer at Deakin Callard & Partners in Manchester before spending 12 years as Senior Engineer at Arup and then Buro Happold.

Ian joined Booth King in 2003 becoming Associate then Partner by 2006.

Ian has a wide range of experience and has been responsible for many major residential and commercial projects such as the Leftbank Apartments Spinningfields Manchester and the Evans medical/MEDEVA pharmaceutical developments in Speke. He has also been responsible in part for a number of civic and sporting developments such as the Reebok Stadium Bolton, the Manchester City Art gallery and Manchester Cathedral visitor’s centre.

Alongside new builds, Ian specialises in refurbishment projects and has a long established and loyal client base.

Raj  has over 25 years experience working on major projects in both the public and private sector.

Following eight years with Buro Happold and two years as a group director for Ramboll Whitby Bird, Raj joned Booth King in 2010 as a senior team member and after a period of time working in Canada he became a director in 2015.

Ian joined Booth King in 2008 as a consultant bringing his business acumen and expertise from his time as a parter at Buro Happold.  Ian has directed offices in Hong Kong, Kuwait, Jeddah and Manchester.

With over 30 years experience Ian has been a key part in Booth King’s tremendous growth.  As Chairman he provides the management team with the support and advice to continue the companies growth aspirations.

Alan is an associate and heads our Edinburgh office. He established a Scottish office in early 2015, after the practice began working on an increasing amount of projects in the country.

He has been with Booth King for 13 years and has a wide range of experience in all major building materials including, steel, concrete, timber, masonry, aluminum and glass, and is passionate about the use of innovative construction methods.
