Booth King Launches Manchester Office and Appoints New Director

Booth King – structural and civil engineers has opened a central Manchester office. The company – established in Lancashire in 1969 – has its head office in Ramsbottom and also launched an Edinburgh office in 2015.

They have taken space – initially for five engineers – at Planetree House in the Northern Quarter of Manchester.

Managing director Mark Moppett commented: “We have experienced our largest growth over the past 12 months, which is largely due to our strong client relationships.
We are proud of the long established family ethos behind Booth King, and the Manchester base will enable us to be closer to many of our existing clients and complement our head office located in Ramsbottom.”

In addition the company has recruited Raj Takhar as a director. Raj was discipline lead at Canadian firm Stantec, located in Edmonton Canada where he led a team of over 100 engineers. Prior to his role at Stantec, he was associate director at Buro Happold in Manchester and director at Ramboll also in Manchester; in addition he spent a period of time as a senior engineer at Booth King. Raj will head up the new Manchester office.

Raj commented: “Its great to be back at Booth King and at such an exciting time. Having worked at a number of other companies, its exciting to get back to such a pure engineering led practice.”

Mark added: “Having a director of Raj’s calibre joining Booth King is fantastic testament to where we have come. We are working on some truly impressive projects in the region including: Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre at the Royal Oldham Hospital, the Water Street scheme with developer Renaker and Stubbs Mill working with Urban Splash. In addition we continue to work on schemes throughout the UK and internationally.”

Concluded Raj: “The Manchester office will enable us to develop existing relationships with developers and architects across the city, and to grow our client base even further. Initially we are opening the office with a team of five with a view to growing this number further.”
