We are shocked and saddened to announce the death of our colleague and friend Andrew Boardman. An outstanding senior technician, Andrew has been a part of the Booth King family since 2007.
Andrew died suddenly on Sunday, 31st July aged 46 after suffering a stroke. He was a keen runner with Blackburn Road Runners Club and had competed in nine marathons including two London Marathons. He also travelled to Florida in 2014 to take part in the Disney Challenge multi race event and he was currently training for the Ironman in Bolton. He was a race leader and coach and had recently paced six of his team mates to completing their first marathon in Liverpool after training with them weekly.
On Saturday, members of the Booth King team completed a 5 kilometre run at Witton Park in Blackburn alongside many of Andrew’s friends and fellow runners. Everyone participated in a one minute cheer to remember Andrew.
Andrew’s funeral will take place on Monday, 15th August at 1.30pm at Blackburn Cathedral and afterwards at St Mark’s Conservative Club in Witton, Blackburn. There will be family flowers only and donations can be made via Alty Funeral Directors in Blackburn to the Stoke Association and/or to Millie’s Smiles of Blackburn.
