Barry has been part of Booth King since 2004, becoming a director and shareholder in 2007. As a director and co-owner, Barry became co-responsible for the management of the business; and over the last sixteen years has not only continued to prove himself a fully competent engineer but also maintained and developed notable clients such as Whitbread and Bruntwood as well as introducing new clients and opportunities. He has also been instrumental in Booth King becoming Approved Certifiers of Building Design (structures) in Scotland and for achieving accreditation as an ICE training provider and along with his fellow Directors and Associates has been key to assisting staff gain their Charterships.
Commenting on Barry’s move to Managing Director Mark Moppett said ‘I have known and worked with Barry for almost 30 years since he was a University student gaining work experience in 1991 at Ove Arup in London when I was a project engineer.
I moved from Arup to Booth King Partnership in 2001 where I became Senior Partner in 2004. At that time Barry approached me to work for Booth King, having kept in touch with him and tracked his progress, I offered him a position at BKP without hesitation and the rest, as they say, is history!’
Mark will be continuing his hands on approach to projects while remaining as a Director, and as Managing Director, Barry will be no less involved with his current projects and clients.
Speaking about his new position Barry said, ‘I am grateful to Mark for all his efforts in bringing Booth King to where we are now and, with the directors, for encouraging me and trusting me to take us forwards. Booth King is a special firm in my eyes, and key to this is our culture of mutual support which I intend to nurture. I look forward to building on our successes and searching out new challenges and opportunities.’
