122 Leadenhall Street, London

122 Leadenhall also known as ‘The Cheese Grater’ was one of the most prestigious office buildings in the City of London, 50 storeys tall and 225m in height.

Booth King’s appointment was to the steel fabricator William Hares Limited with a brief to provide structural engineering solutions for the temporary stability during erection.

Key Facts

Working closely with the fabricators, erectors, the main contractor, Bovis, and the building’s designers, Arup, we provided structural engineering services which included the design of temporary steelwork to stabilise and support the primary frame and mega-structure in 15 storey increments until such time as the external diagrid has been pre-stressed and may be relied upon to take lateral loading.
