Project Information
The Exhibition Centre Liverpool (ECL) project was a major extension to the Liverpool Arena which has dramatically increased the city’s conference, entertainment and exhibition provision.
The exhibition halls will provide a clear span area of 60m x 135m with full exhibition and music venue facilities.
The project also includes a 200 bedroom 4* hotel which was completed in January 2016.
The development occupies a prominent position on the King’s Dock site.
Key Facts
Booth King was the civil and structural engineer for the 87,000 sq ft building.
The adjacency of the Albert Docks World Heritage site together with major historical docks and UXO led to a challenging sub-structure design and extensive ground investigations.
The expertise Booth King offered led to a huge reduction in the tonnage of steel, the volume of concrete and almost 4000m of piles originally designed for the building.
