A major extension to the existing Liverpool Arena which dramatically expands the city’s conference, entertainment and exhibition provision.

The exhibition halls provide a clear span area of 60m x 135m with full exhibition and music venue facilities. The development occupies a prominent position on the King’s Dock site and also includes a 200 bedroom 4* hotel.

The adjacency of the Albert Docks World Heritage site together with major historical docks and UXO led to a challenging sub-structure design and extensive ground investigations.

Booth King was the civil and structural engineer for the 87,000 sq. ft. building, which was completed in 2015.

The expertise Booth King offered led to a huge reduction in the tonnage of steel, the volume of concrete and almost 4000m of piles originally designed for the building.

The project won a North West Construction Award 2016 and reached the finals of the IStructE Awards 2016.
