Modernist design featuring a triple height courtyard
The Quadrant
Project details
The development sits within a prime residential area in Hale, Cheshire and comprises four self-contained flats within a single building that presents itself as a substantial dwelling in keeping with neighbouring properties.
The modernist design provides a luxury contemporary lifestyle with large open plan dwellings that surround a triple height central courtyard boasting a roof light, feature planting and a sleek architectural staircase.
There are large expanses of glazing including, a bespoke glazed elevation to the setback penthouse, all encapsulated within a jointless insulated render panel system and contrasting charcoal brickwork.
The primary structure is of traditional load bearing masonry construction supporting steel floor beams and PCC floor units. Challenging ground conditions were overcome by employment of PCC driven piles and a suspended ground beam.
We had the opportunity to express our own creative flair in the exposed fabricated cruciform columns that restrain the penthouse glazing and the folded steel plate staircase suspended from a series of steel fins.
Booth King provided the full package of civil and structural engineering design services including drainage design, highways design and flood risk assessment.
